Real unfiltered Tragedy

City Council quietly killed it.

A developer was ready to bring a new grocery store — plus much-needed housing — to Bamore & 59.

City Council blocked it behind closed doors.

This is exactly the problem.

While cities like Sugar Land use strong long-term planning to grow responsibly and attract real businesses, Rosenberg is being asked to remove its own planning requirement and give City Council even more unchecked power.

I’m running for City Council District 2 because families in Rosenberg deserve better: real grocery stores, real jobs, and leaders who put residents first — not themselves.

If you want change instead of more control, I’m asking for your vote on Saturday, May 2nd.

I’m running for City Council because Rosenberg is my home — and I believe our city deserves leaders who actually listen to the people who live here.

I’m not a career politician. I’m a local resident, and a small business owner who has seen firsthand how decisions made at City Hall affect real families and neighborhoods in District 2.

When I stood up and spoke out, powerful interests tried to silence me. That experience showed me exactly why we need more transparency and accountability in our local government.

I’m running to bring honest, neighbor-focused leadership back to District 2.

Early Voting: April 20–28

Election Day: Saturday May 2nd | 7AM–7PM

About Me

I’m John Burlingame. I’ve called Rosenberg home since 2012 and run the only active bike shop in town. I’m not a politician — I’m your neighbor.
I ran for this seat in 2024 and lost, I ended up serving and currently on the Planning Commission. I know how this city works. And I know what needs to change.
When I announced my candidacy on January 6th, they put a Stop Work Order on a shed that’s been in my backyard for 5 years. Two days later.
If they can do this to me, they can do this to anyone.
I’m running on transparency and accountability. Because someone has to.

Campaign Focus

Transparency and Community Growth

Connecting with the Community

City hall should answer to residents, not insiders. I will fight for open communication and make sure every tax dollar is accounted for.

Community Engagement

Quality Retail Development

I’ve been part of this community since 2012. I know my neighbors. I’ll hold regular town halls so District 2 always has a voice at the table.

Transparency and Progress

Effective Communication

No more back room decisions. No more using city resources to protect the wrong people. What happened to me proves it’s broken. I’ll fix it.

Community Leadership

Building Community Partnerships

Real leadership means showing up. I knocked every door in District 2 last election. I’ll do it again because you deserve a council member who actually knows you.

Shaping the Future Together

Education

Empowering through Knowledge. I believe in a community where residents are fully informed about how their tax dollars are spent. My goal is to bridge the gap between City Hall and our neighborhoods through regular town halls and clear, accessible reporting on city projects.

Infrastructure

Ensuring Sustainable Growth. Our district is expanding, but our roads and drainage must keep up. I will prioritize the preventative maintenance of our streets and bridge projects to ensure our safety and protect our local economy.

Smart Development

Promoting Smart Infrastructure. 'Smart' means data-driven. I am committed to attracting high-quality businesses—like the grocery stores our families need—that broaden our tax base and provide modern, user-friendly services for every resident.

Transparency

Fighting for open communication between city hall and residents to ensure every tax dollar is accounted for. Trust is built on truth; I will work to remove the 'private vetoes' and administrative hurdles that currently stall our community's progress.

Community Well-being

Building a Thriving Community. True well-being comes from strong social connections and reliable partnerships. I will champion accessible community spaces and support our local businesses and non-profits that deliver the key services our residents depend on.

Quality of Life

Protecting the District's Livability. From safer streets to vibrant parks, I will make development decisions that are predictable, fair, and cost-effective. We deserve a leader who values our community’s dreams and has the courage to act on them.
